Register online and bring your phone to the event to bid on one-of-a-kind items and getaway experiences! Assistance will be available throughout the evening from Bid Buddies. Watch this 1-video introduction or read more below.
What is mobile bidding, you ask? This year, all Silent Auction items will be bid on using your Wi-Fi enabled mobile device (i.e. your smartphone). This has become a fun and wildly successful trend at fundraising events for several reasons:
You can enter your bids easily using your phone from anywhere, not just when you are physically in front of the item, since there are NO paper bid sheets to write your bid on!
You will receive “outbid texts” so that you know when someone has trumped your bid. You can bid again with just a click to make sure you get that favorite package!
You can set a “max bid” amount on any package you wish and the system will bid in increments for you up until your max bid is reached – no need to “goal tend” packages.
You can watch certain items and see all your bids easily in the My Bids tab (think EBay).
We just need your mobile phone number on file and we’ll send you a text to start bidding!
What if I don’t have a smartphone? Not to worry, there will be Bid Buddies around the Tudor Square with devices to help. You can also use a friend’s device by simply logging on using your own personal bidding number, then logging out so they can log back on with their own bid number.
Are there other kinds of devices I could use? Yes. You can bring any Wi-Fi enabled tablet or touch screen device to use as your bidding device.
Is there a big learning curve to wireless bidding? Not at all – really! It is a very user-friendly site that is clear and simple. And not to worry, Bid Buddies will be available to help.
Do I need to download an app to my phone? No. The wireless bidding platform is a mobile-ready website, so it will use your phone’s browser. You will receive a text with a link to the site and your bidder number.
Silent Auction Rules
All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds on items. All bids are a commitment to purchase the item and are binding. Bids cannot be retracted.
In the event of a dispute, the Auction Committee Chair shall have sole/final discretion to determine the winning bidder.
The silent auction will close at 9:45 PM.
The checkout table will open at 9:30 PM and will remain open until all transactions are completed.
If you have pre-registered your credit card, there is no need to check-out – simply pick up your items at one of our “Auction Pick-Up Days” at the school, or sign up for DELIVERY for a $10 fee. If you wish to leave with your items, or need to use an alternative form of payment, please visit the check-out station for payment and item pick up.
Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year after November 11, 2017.
MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Payment by check payable to “The Museum School of Avondale Estates.”
Everything is sold “AS IS.” The Museum School and Avondale Education Association make no express or implied warranties with respect to property or services sold. Values given to the items have been provided by the donor of the item.
